Choosing and discussing repertoire with the pupil is important. I want you to enjoy the pieces you play!
Whether you chose to take exams or not, developing good technique and general musicianship is done in every lesson. This will make you a more confident and well-rounded musician and pianist. Also, I find that having a variety of activities (aural training, finger exercises, sight-reading practice etc.) helps maintain interest and concentration during the lesson rather than spending the whole lesson looking at one or two pieces of music.
Each pupil, whether an adult or child will be given a notebook or A4 wallet in which I will write comments and practice instructions for the following week.
I am happy to teach mothers and pre-schoolers together using the fantastic piano teaching programme for pre-schoolers called Wunderkeys (www.wunderkeys.com). The hour lesson would break down to approximately 30 minutes of Wunderkeys with your pre-schooler and 30 minutes of adult one-to-one tuition. Don’t worry, I have plenty of pre-school toys to keep your child entertained during your share of the lesson.
I charge a competitive rate of £22 per hour. The first trial lesson is free. I teach from my home in Odiham in Hampshire. I welcome learners of all ages.
I am happy to teach adult groups of two if you would like to share the cost with a friend.
